CCPS to offer Grab ’n Go Summer Meals (2024)

Who is eligible?

Any household who qualifies for free/reduced price meal benefits can receive free meal kits for every child (ages 2-18) who are part of the qualified household.

How do households find out if they are eligible?

Households MUST contact the Child Nutrition Office at 443.550.8680 to confirm eligibility and preregister all children for weekly meal distribution. Preregistration must be completed by 4:00pm Tuesday in order to participate in Wednesday distribution (same day registration is not available). Due to additional restrictions, eligibility cannot be determined at Grab ‘n Go sites.

Households who do not already show as qualified in the CCPS student information system will need to submit a meal benefit application to determine eligibility prior to preregistering. Applications may take 2-3 business days to process, please plan accordingly. Completed applications may be dropped off or mailed to:

Calvert County Public Schools
Child Nutrition Department
1305 Dares Beach Rd.
Prince Frederick, MD 20678

What if our household doesn’t qualify for meal benefits?

Households who do not qualify for meal benefits may participate, however, they must still preregister and will be responsible for prepaying the cost of meal kits ($41/kit). Please contact the Child Nutrition Office to preregister and for options on how to prepay for kits. No payments will be accepted at distribution sites.

The Calvert County Family Network has a limited amount of funding available to help offset the cost of meal kits for households who do not qualify for free/reduced priced meal benefits. These funds will be available to a limited number of households who apply for, but do not qualify for, meal benefits. These funds will be issued on a first come, first served basis until depleted. Households who receive this funding will have their children’s meal kits prepaid for the full 6-week summer program.

How many meals come in a kit?

Meal kits consist of 5 breakfast meals, 5 lunch meals, and milk for each meal.

How often will meal kits be distributed?

Meal kits will be distributed weekly on Wednesdays (July 3−August 7, 2024). Please see specific dates/times for each site in the tables below.

Where will meal kits be distributed?

Details regarding distribution are listed in the tables below. When you call to preregister (443.550.8680), you will select a specific site. That site is where you will be able to pick up meal kits each week. You may change your pick up site during the summer, however, will need to contact the Child Nutrition Office to update your registration.

Do children need to be present when meal kits are distributed?

The Parent/Guardian must provide their name and a contact number when pre-registering children for the summer meal program. Once registered, that Parent/Guardian may then pick up meal kits without the child(ren) being present.

Meal kits will be available at the sites and times as follows:
