I've got over 200 razors, but I am certain the median value is under $20. There are quite a few expensive ones, though. I think 40-50 of them are valuable enough that they would be worth the effort of selling individually if I didn't like having them.

@LRod Do you still have Reggie's Jupiter?
If so, mind comparing the RR GOAT and the Jupiter?

Cheers. LRod's Acquisition and everything else Thread! (5)

Unfortunately no!
I got rid of both the Jupiter & Titan a while back!
I do kind if recall how the Jupiter shaved so I'll try to compare once the GOAT arrives!

That's a lot of razors!
I'm just under 70 and the problem is that the (expensive ones) worth selling to fund other razors are no longer the majority since I like most of them enough to keep them all.
My "buy-try-keep-sell" system is coming to a halt unless I dish out the money for new ones without selling any. And I don't see that happening much unless I run into one that I have to absolutely have!

Honestly Larry, I owe you a Christmas gift this year. Your strategy and reporting has saved me a pile of good money spent on mediocre razors

That's where I'm at... I have funded a few very inexpensive razor heads from Yaqi... most of which have turned out to be keepers, esp. given their prices... Less than $40, most of them.... I only made one mistake: the Diagonal two piece.... That one might find a new home, but the rest of them have given me excellent shaves.... The Slant 37 and Ghost 0.90 are at the top at the moment... of Yaqi razors, that is... the SS Mellon is nipping at their heels...

I did notice, while pricing out a Timeless Ti razor to help out on another thread... the Ti Crown polished is out of stock again.. and it wasn't me, this time. <eg>

You don't owe me anything man. Your soap and the blades you've sent me are more than enough!
And besides, it's all YMMV!
You're just lucky that your own instincts & knowledge have led you to the right razors.
It ain't me!!

It takes them a while to make up for everything you've bought!

Just got an email from Atelier Durdan that my order has been shipped today!
Considering what I ordered: Number 7 razor, Le Maurice razor with custom handle and a Vestige baseplate,
16 days isn't bad at all!!

Beautiful shave tonight with the Hone Type 15 Bronze!
Wizamet blade and some TOBS Rose shaving cream!
I still cant get over how heavy this razor is. The heft is amazing and so is the balance considering it's weight.
As smooth and mild (barely no blade feel)
as it is, it's 100% "let the razor do the work".
I don't press at all with this razor and the results are fantastic. Plus it's a beauty!!
Another awesome razor!

Glad to hear the bronze Hone is a good shaver. I have the aluminum but don’t really care for it. It is way too mild and I always have to use a secondary razor for clean up as it leaves lots of stubble behind. Maybe the heft of the bronze helps out the efficiency.

It’s a good looking razor for sure….enjoy.

It does for sure!
I had the aluminum one and sold it a while back. The Bronze has been totally different for me!

Thanks!

I found a pretty good razor stand solution:
Razorock polished stainless variable width dometop stainless razor stand ($15)!
I've searched high and low for a stand that would fit the Sailor and my WR3.
Both have extremely wide handles (Timeless handles too!)
This was the solution!!
The thinner the handle, the lower it sits and the wider the handle, the higher it sits.
Not a problem though because of the stands weight. The razor will not tip!
Now obviously the handle you try to fit might make the razor sit a bit inclined but it's not a
big deal. I just need stands for whatever razor I use on a given day!
The Stando's I got are excellent for 13mm to 14mm razor handles and this one is perfect for
anything bigger. It ain't perfect but it works for my intended purpose!
Here are some multiple pictures of the stand and with various razors installed of different widths
(Sailor, WR3, Guerrilla, Timeless, Sabre & Focus Tritok):

I shaved tonight with the Focus Dynamic Evo half DE SE razor!
I used half of an Astra SP for this shave!
I'm gonna call this one "Awkward".
It's beautifully built but the blade loading is kind of a pain.
You can't use pre-cut half blades (you

must

use DE blades that you snap in half!)
You're even warned about it in a little pamphlet that's included!
The little bent tips that are left after you snap the blade is part of what maintains pressure
between the top cap and base plate. That prevents the head from sliding open during the shave.
Remember I mentioned that the top cap slides open horizontally to load the blade. It's very weird!
Then there's the awkward handle position during the shave. In order to hold the right (30 degree)
head angle, you're holding the handle 90%-100% parallel to your face.
Raise it up beyond that and the razor wont engage the hair!
Next you've got an incredible amount of drag (on the first pass) from the aluminum finish.
It's not a suction feel, it's drag!
This is typical for me with aluminum but more so with this particular razor.
The only aluminum razors that give me zero drag are the Guerrilla and the Colonial CR7!

The the head pivot: It works well but you've got a clicking sound whenever the head returns back to it's
default resting point (spring return!)
So throughout the shave you here a "click" sound every few seconds.
Despite all this weirdness, the actual shave quality is very good:
(mild shave, small blade reveal, light blade feel and surprisingly efficient) after you get used to it's quirks.
This thing's been out for quite some time, and I'm guessing around the same time as the OneBlade.
The Proof razor came out later but it seems like they all share some similar attributes.
This one wins the weirdness title hands down though!
Regardless, I enjoyed it and found it quite fun. A nice obscure razor to have that won't be in my rotation
but will come out for a shave whenever I desire something that's very different!
Overall the post shave was excellent where my face was left smooth with zero discomfort.
I can't complain about that!
As always though (especially with this one), YMMV!!

I have a couple of those...... They fit the Progress/Mergress... I still keep my Athenas in their boxes in between uses... Making that little dresser top display satisfied the lack of Athena stands' SAD. <eg>
