Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen - Massive Funding Boost for Classic MMORPG (2025)

Attention all gamers and MMORPG enthusiasts! We've got some exciting news that will have you on the edge of your seats. The highly anticipated Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen, a classic fantasy MMORPG, has just received a massive funding boost to continue its development journey.

This early access game, inspired by the golden era of fantasy gaming, has been in the works for quite some time. And now, with this new round of funding, the team behind Pantheon is ready to take things to the next level. But here's where it gets controversial...

The funding amount is a whopping seven-digit figure, which is no small feat for an indie game developer. This injection of cash will allow Visionary Realms, the game's development studio, to expand their team and create even more epic content.

Chris Rowan, the CEO of Visionary Realms, clarified that this funding doesn't mean they're being acquired by a larger studio. Instead, it's a group of believers who recognize their creative and technical prowess. He emphasizes, "It's a group of people who really believed in us and wanted to see this happen."

With a larger team, the developers can "breathe" and focus on what they do best without being overwhelmed. Rowan explains, "We can get a lot more done, deeper, richer, and sooner, without distractions."

Pantheon's journey hasn't been without its challenges. The game originally launched a Kickstarter campaign in 2014, but it fell short of its $800,000 goal, reaching only $460,000. However, the team's determination, led by the late Brad McQuaid, a renowned designer, kept the project alive. They moved their crowdfunding efforts to their official site and eventually secured seed funding in 2015, allowing them to continue development.

After an extensive pledge-based alpha stage, Pantheon finally entered Early Access in late 2024, and it's been a success so far. The game regularly receives updates for content, balance, and quality-of-life improvements. The latest addition is the Black Rose Keep, a massive dungeon area that has players buzzing with feedback.

And this is the part most people miss... Pantheon's developers are actively listening to player feedback and making changes accordingly. They're already discussing how to improve the Black Rose Keep based on player suggestions.

Looking ahead, the Sorcerer class is in for some major changes, and a new "point of interest" featuring the Wildbloods NPC class is on the horizon.

So, what do you think about this funding news? Is it a sign of great things to come for Pantheon, or do you have concerns about the impact on the game's development? Share your thoughts in the comments below! We'd love to hear your opinions and predictions for the future of this classic fantasy MMORPG.
