This pool party is easy to put together since so many components are bought instead of made – just print off the free pool party printables and enjoy. They also work for a beach party!!
Computer Boy turned 10 in January. When I asked him what he wanted to do for his birthday this year he said “can i just have a regular party, not with a theme?” GAH! He decided to have his party at the local recreation center pool and water playground. My kids love to swim, so with 2 feet of snow on the ground we headed off to the pool.
I kept it simple so it didn’t feel like a huge party theme. I used blue ombre waves in the decorating with beach ball colors for the rest.The centerpiece was the fondant cake. For the invitations I wrote all the party details on beach balls and delivered them to the school.My favorite part is coming up with the themed party food. The water bottles were the easiest part – “pool water”.
It was around lunch so we started off with “sand”wiches. Get it??? HA! Then “take a dip” with veggies and Crack Dip (seriously, this dip is AMAZING). We had blue kool-aid and we called it the “blue lagoon”.
This party was a little different than most of my birthday parties in that a ton of the food was bought vs being made. Like these wafer cookie “kick boards” the candy “life savers” and the jelly “inner tubes”. I couldn’t find blue jello so I made my own with some blue juice to make these “tide pools” – you can’t really see it but there are Swedish fish in the jello cups!
A bowl of “killer goldfish” and some sour rope “pool noodles”. And finally something homemade – I made these beach ball sugar cookies!

Thank you so much! We were at a local recreationcenter with an indoor pool (it was January after all) and indoor water center! The kids swam and played for an hour, we had the food/presents/cake and then they swam some more!
