The Elsa co*cktail – Disney’s Frozen Inspired Sangria Recipe (2024)

Hi. My name is Meagan. And I like to party. {Anyone else seen Hot Rod? One of the funniest-cheesiest movies ever? :)} Anyway – I do like to party. Whether it’s a great dinner party with friends and family, a girl’s night with my besties, or a playdate party with my favorite-ist little lady – any reason to celebrate life makes me happy. And, since my little girl, like every other girl ages 1-100 in the world, is in love with the movie Frozen, I decided to have a fun Frozen themed night for her and a couple of our friends. Today I’ll share the drinks I made – Sangria for the adults, and a couple of non-alcoholic options for the kiddos. Over the next week I’ll share some treats, foods, and party ideas too. How fun is this, right? I call it “The Elsa.” It’s icy blue colored. It has frozen fruit and fun frozen ice cubes – even star-shaped {the closest I could get to a snowflake :)} frozen pineapple slices. It’s also low-cal. Because it’s made with SkinnyGirl wine, and Sweet’N Low instead of sugar in the simple syrup. A delish drink that’s guilt-free, and super fun? That’s a win in my book :) So – here’s how to create your own at home…

You need just a handful of ingredients for this Frozen-Themed Sangria Recipe. You’ll need a dry white wine – I chose this Pinot Grigio from SkinnyGirl wines, but any favorite you have will work. You’ll also need something to tint it blue – I recommendblue curacao, but since I didn’t have any on hand, I used this blue hawaii mix. Any type of lemon-lime style soda will work, and I should have actually used a diet 7-11, but again, used what I had on hand! You’ll also need lemon juice, which is totally better when you fresh squeeze it. And about half of a pineapple – again, fresh is WAY better than a canned pineapple, but use what ya got :)

So, to make this a little bit more fun and fruity, I got creative with the pineapple. I cut out a few star-shaped pineapple chunks using a cookie cutter, then froze them. I also took the scraps leftover from those pineapple stars to put into an ice cube tray to make pineapple ice. Because I am totally a fan of flavored ice cubes! {Remember my blueberry ice cubes from my Skinny Blueberry Mojito?} I use flavored ice in my water bottle every day, and love it in party drinks since it keeps things from getting too watered down.

To make this a non-alcoholic drink, you have a few options. Mix some lemonade, blue Hawaiian punch, and a splash of ginger ale. Or mix pineapple juice, Country Time lemonade powder, and sprite – then add a splash of a blue colored MIO drink mix. But either way be sure to freeze the pineapple in ice cubes and cut fun shapes, to delight the littles :)

This can work for tons of other party themes too – it’s fun and fruity, it’s a gorgeous color, and it’s low-cal. Perfection, pretty much, right?
